Welcome to the Parents' Place. This section provides
information and guidance to parents regarding various concerns we
face with our children. Some of these concerns are related to the
typical pressures of family life, some of the problems
are due to serious mental health disorders suffered
by our children. We are just now building this section on our site,
and encourage you to bookmark this page so that you can come back
frequently to check what's new!
Does your child suffer
from an emotional disorder?
Many children and families are affected by mental
health problems. It is estimated that:
- One in five children and adolescents may have a mental health
problem.
- At least 1 in 10, or as many as 6 million young people, may
have a serious emotional disturbance. (Center
for Mental Health Services, CMHS)
- An estimated two-thirds of all young people with mental health
problems are not getting the help they need. (Center
for Mental Health Services, CMHS)

The Anxiety
Disorders Association of America provides a great deal of
information for the public. Check out these sections:

The National Institute of Health provides information
regarding various mental health issues for the public ( in English
and also informacion en espanol). Check out their pages on anxiety disorders, depression,
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, eating disorders, schizophrenia,
and other mental health disorders.
